The Dances of Universal Peace present:
Crossing the Sacred Threshold with Mary Magdalene
Sunday 30th October 2.30-4.30pm
Mullumbimby Uniting Church Hall, Dalley St, Mullumbimby
Suggested Donation: $15
In the Northern Hemisphere, the season of darkness and cold approaches the Celtic feast of Samhain. Here in the south we have Beltaine and the coming of warmth.. Death Unites all . In this understanding we will honor our ancestors.
We invite Miriam of Magdala as the Dark Crone of Wisdom and Dissolution to guide us through the thinness of the veil, crossing the sacred threshold between this world and the next. Our ancestors call out, reminding us that we have been and will always be Beloved for all eternity. Those who have gone before us are inextricably woven into our being.
In this session, the Magdalene will stand at our right shoulder as we honor the Great Mothers who were our ancestors along with loved ones who have departed this life. We will celebrate the beloved presences that fill our lives with an anointing ritual in which all may participate.
Bring two candles; a chalice or glass for water; a piece of fruit (orange, apple), and three pieces of cake or crackers; that we will bless and later leave in strategic places as offerings to our ancestors. You might also want to add to the altar a photo(s) of a departed loved one(s) and/or guide(s), and water or oil for anointing.
Mary’s Saying #3: Mary said,
“This world is a cemetery, it is filled with corpses.
For this reason, the Lord set the world on fire so that the dead might awaken and
Spirits might be set free. And now the fire burns, and we tend it so that it might
Burn brightly, and we dance within the fire, for we are on fire with the Spirit of
Yahweh. If you seek the Anointed, you seek the fire, and when you are utterly
burnt away, you will rejoice in the True Light.”
